Prostate Dysfunction
Recent statistics have revealed some alarming findings – dysfunction of the prostate gland is now becoming more and more common for men in the industrialized nations. No longer is aging alone to blame. Chemical toxins in our food and environment are contributing to the rising incidence of diminished prostate function. By their forties, many men experience a hormonal shift that increases the size of the prostate gland. If the prostate cells begin to over-produce, neighboring organs can be adversely affected. Another factor causing prostate dysfunction is the host of synthetic chemical compounds that have entered into our environment and into our bodies. Saw Palmetto berries are traditionally used in treating male urogenital conditions. It provides phytonutrients that help to maintain a healthy prostate. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death for men after lung cancer. 90% of prostate cancer goes undetected until it is untreatable and has spread to the lymphatic system. By the age of 50, 35% of men have cancer cells in their prostate.
Odds are 2 to 1 you'll have prostate problems by the time you are 60. By age 65 most men have enlarged prostates. The first signs are night urination and difficult urination. Literally 97% of all men will be affected with prostate problems during their lifetime.
Each year over 400,000 men in the United States alone undergo prostate surgery and over a billion dollars a year is spent on prostate treatment. Proscar, the leading drug, is highly dangerous and according to the United States Veteran's Administration is no more effective than sugar pills. Surgery often results in incontinence and impotence. Are you ready to wear diapers, suffer castration, and never have sex again?
What is BPH?
1. Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens berry) has been traditionally used in treating male urogenital conditions. Serenoa is a small palm tree indigenous to the Atlantic seaboard. The tree produces a small berry that contains fatty acids and sterols, which affect testosterone metabolism. Like the drug Proscar, it is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor -- blocking the formation of dihydrotestosterone, responsible for prostate enlargement. Unlike Proscar however, Saw Palmetto has no toxicity or unpleasant side effects.
2.Plantago Asiatica:Promotes diuresis for painful urination and bladder infections; promote semen production for male infertility.
3.Vitamin E Succinate (VES), a vitamin E analogue inhibited prostate cancer in vitro and in an animal model, according to a study published in the International Journal of Cancer.
Researchers from the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer & Research Institute and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine found VES time- and dose-dependently inhibited proliferationand induced apoptosis in prostrate cancer. In addition, daily injections of the vitamin E analogue inhibited prostate tumor growth as well as lung metastases in mice.
The researchers concluded these results suggest a potential therapeutic utility of VES for patients with prostate cancer.

Flaxseed Oil and Prostate Health
Flaxseed may slow growth of prostate tumors. Including flaxseed as part of a low-fat diet may slow the growth of tumors in men with prostate cancer. According to a study published in the journal Urology, 25 men with prostate cancer supplemented with 3 tablespoons of ground flaxseed daily for an average of one month had a greater rate of prostate tumor cell death than men who did not follow this diet.
